Please join us as Kathy Dean presents “Understanding the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) Edits and the distinct modifiers 59 and X{EPSU}. NCCI edits are used by the Medicare program, state Medicaid programs as well as some commercial insurance carriers and workers compensation carriers to combat abusive and incorrect billing practices for outpatient services as well as professional services. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) updates the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits each quarter, however, the NCCI manual is only updated annually in January. We will cover several sections in the NCCI manual including Radiology, Laboratory, Outpatient Therapy, and Surgery.
