We believe that education is the key to success! To that end we have expanded our elearning services to include MS-DRG, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Drug Administration and ICD-10 online courses.
These educational sessions taught by Deborah Hale, CCS, CCDS, President of ACS; Susan Wallace, MEd, RHIA, CCS, CCDS, CDIP, FAHIMA, VP of Inpatient Services; and Chris Merle, RHIA, MS, CCS, CCDS, CMA(AAMA), Inpatient Consultant, include an overview of MS-DRG changes, ICD-10 reporting updates and issues related to Value Based programs.
MS-DRG/CDI - Medicare Severity Adjusted DRGs (MS-DRGs) requires timely, effective clinical documentation improvement education. Annual updates to the MS-DRG system, released October 1st of each year should also be an educational priority to ensure outcomes data and reimbursement accuracy. When coupled with the need for complete and accurate documentation to support risk adjustment that is critical for risk adjusted Value Based Purchasing data, every hospital must have a robust CDI program. In addition, the entire curriculum for CDI has been found to be a much needed refresher for client hospitals who have participated in initial CDI education provided by ACS.
