CMS's implementation of Medicare Severity
Adjusted DRGs (MS-DRGs) effective October 1, 2007 make the need for
timely, effective staff education a high priority. To meet this need ACS
is taking this opportunity to broaden our scope of services!
We are excited to announce e-learning opportunities! The first urgent
topic we will provide is "Introduction to MS-DRGs". This six (6) hour
session taught by Deborah Hale, CCS, President of ACS and Susan Wallace,
M Ed, RHIA, CCS, Director of Compliance for ACS is scheduled for release
on September 1, 2007 and will be updated as changes and clarifications

In addition to
the "Introduction to MS-DRG" educational program, the
entire curriculum for Clinical Documentation Improvement (14 totall AHIMA
approved CE Hours) is available to client hospitals who have participated in an initial Clinical Documentation Improvement Program
provided by ACS.

Participants
who would benefit from this session include CEO's, CFO's, Vice President
of Medical Affairs, Physician Advisors, Clinical Documentation
Improvement Specialists, Coders, Nurse Managers and all others
interested in learning more about the MS-DRG methodology. Unlimited
access to this e-learning educational session continues until September
30, 2008 making it possible to provide training to new employees for
whom knowledge of the MS-DRG methodology is important.

These MS-DRG educational sessions are recommended for clinical
documentation specialists, case managers and inpatient coders who are
familiar with the current CMS-DRGs. In addition, special one hour
e-learning specialty specific sessions are available for physicians. For

Future ACS e-learning opportunities will also include an Outpatient
Prospective Payment System update and topic specific education just
in time for the January 1, 2008 changes.
